UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has expressed strong opposition to unilateral actions in Yemen, emphasizing the need for dialogue and collective efforts to restore peace in the war-torn country.
Speaking at a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Asim Iftikhar said his country welcomes all initiatives aimed at promoting regional dialogue. He said millions of people in Yemen are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance and called on the international community to respond immediately.
Ambassador Asim added that the UN Security Council must act in unity to support lasting peace in Yemen. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic efforts and appreciated the roles played by Oman and the United Arab Emirates in facilitating peace and stability.
Reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the government and people of Yemen, the ambassador strongly condemned the illegal seizure of United Nations offices and assets, calling such actions unacceptable and a violation of international norms.
The envoy underscored Pakistan’s commitment to a peaceful, inclusive, and negotiated solution to the Yemen crisis under the framework of the United Nations.
