LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore has ordered the initiation of proceedings to declare PTI leader Khadija Shah and three other accused persons as proclaimed offenders in a May 9-related case.
ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul conducted the hearing. During the proceedings, the state prosecutor informed the court that Khadija Shah had gone into hiding after being convicted in one of the May 9 cases.
The prosecutor requested the court to begin the process of declaring her and three other suspects as absconders in accordance with the law.
After hearing the arguments, the court directed the police to publish public notices regarding the absconding suspects and submit a compliance report by December 1. The judge further ordered that if the accused fail to appear before the court by that date, they will be officially declared proclaimed offenders.
The May 9 violence cases, registered across several cities in the aftermath of protests following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan, have resulted in the detention or prosecution of dozens of party leaders and activists.
Khadija Shah, a fashion designer and prominent PTI supporter, has been facing multiple charges in connection with those incidents.
