LAHORE: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) here on Saturday dismissed the bail applications of PTI leader Umar Ayub in connection with the attacks on Jinnah House, Askari Tower, and the arson at Shadman Police Station.

The hearing was held in the ATC Lahore following the expiry of Umar Ayub’s interim bail. Umar Ayub did not appear in court today, and his legal counsel sought exemption from his appearance, explaining that Umar Ayub had been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and had filed for protective bail at the Peshawar High Court. They argued that without this protective bail, he was unable to attend court proceedings.

The court, however, rejected the request for exemption and dismissed Umar Ayub’s bail applications.

The ATC emphasized that once a sentence has been pronounced, the convicted individual must surrender to the court. The court further ruled that convicted criminals are not entitled to protective bail, and appeals cannot be filed prior to surrender.
