BCB Sticks to Decision on Not Sending Team to India

DHAKA: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reaffirmed its stance on not sending its team to India for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.

The board issued a statement following a meeting with the ICC delegation in Dhaka. According to the BCB, discussions were held regarding the participation of the team in the World Cup. During the meeting, the BCB reiterated its formal request to the ICC to relocate Bangladesh’s matches to a different venue due to security concerns and instructions from the Bangladesh government.

The BCB also mentioned the incident involving the Indian U-19 captain, who refused to shake hands with the Bangladeshi captain during the Under-19 World Cup, calling it an example of how India’s actions have already tarnished the reputation of ICC events.

The statement clarified that the BCB shared concerns about security and the government’s directives with the ICC delegation. The discussions were described as constructive, cordial, and professional, with both sides openly exchanging views on the matter. The possibility of relocating Bangladesh to another group was also discussed, considering logistical issues.
