QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the delays in road projects managed by the National Highway Authority (NHA).
The court has called for a detailed report on the progress of key highways, including N-25 and N-50, which have been progressing at a slow pace.
Constitutional petitions related to the matter were heard by Chief Justice Kamran Khan Malakhel and Justice Najmuddin Mengal. The court remarked that leaving projects unfinished and failing to carry out necessary repairs was unacceptable. Despite the allocation of 127 billion rupees for various NHA projects, progress remains unsatisfactory.
The court summoned the NHA member from Balochistan and asked for a comprehensive report. The court further warned that if there were any further delays, the Chairman of NHA would be required to personally respond.
Questions were raised regarding the lack of progress on important projects, including the Karachi-Khuzdar-Quetta-Chaman Road and the Kuchlak-Zhob project. The court emphasized that if judicial orders were not followed, the responsible officials would be summoned to court.
Lawyers representing the case criticized the NHA’s stance and said that the deteriorating condition of roads was causing significant problems for the public.
