KARACHI: The federal government has decided to confer the country’s highest civilian award, the Nishan-e-Pakistan, on Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

According to reports, Bilawal and his delegation will receive the award today in recognition of their efforts in highlighting Pakistan’s stance at international forums following the recent war with India.

After the conflict, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had formed a parliamentary committee led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to represent Pakistan’s position globally. Bilawal addressed international audiences, including the European Parliament, promoting Pakistan’s peace narrative and condemning Indian aggression.

The war erupted when India used the Pahalgam incident as a pretext for aggression against Pakistan. In response, Pakistan downed six Indian fighter jets and destroyed several airfields. The four-day conflict ended after U.S. mediation led to a ceasefire.

The award presentation on Pakistan’s Independence Day underscores the government’s acknowledgment of Bilawal’s diplomatic role during a critical time in the region’s history.
