KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated that Pakistan will compel India to honor the Indus Waters Treaty, warning that if India refuses, “Karachi will take all six rivers,” a symbolic statement emphasizing water rights.

Speaking at the inauguration of the New Hub Canal project, Bilawal highlighted that Karachi will now receive 100 MGD (million gallons per day) more water thanks to efforts by the provincial and municipal governments. He added that soon, areas like Lyari will also benefit from increased water supply.

Criticizing the federal government, he said that Karachi has been given “Shehbaz Slow” development compared to Punjab’s “Shehbaz Speed,” implying slower progress and less attention to Sindh.

On the Indus Waters Treaty, Bilawal accused India of attempting to break the agreement, calling their actions “cowardly” and claiming that India faced a diplomatic setback.

He warned that the people of Karachi are aware of their rights over the Indus River and will ensure India complies with the treaty.
