SURREY: Indian comedian Kapil Sharma’s recently opened café, Caps Café, in Surrey, Canada, has once again come under gunfire.
According to Indian media reports, unknown assailants fired at the café on Thursday night, marking the second such incident within weeks. The first shooting occurred last month, shortly after the café’s opening.
Police sources say around six bullet holes were found in the café’s windows. Officers responded immediately to the scene, but no official statement with detailed findings has been released yet.
Local residents reported waking up to the sound of gunfire, and a purported video of the incident has been circulating on social media, capturing the sound of multiple shots.
Indian media claims that gangster Goldy Dhillon and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang have allegedly taken responsibility for the attack. A viral social media post attributed to the gang stated:
“Today’s firing at Kapil Sharma’s Caps Café was done by Goldy Dhillon and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. We tried calling him, but he didn’t pick up, so we had to act. If he doesn’t answer our calls now, our next action will be in Mumbai soon.”
Kapil Sharma, who enjoys massive popularity in India and abroad, opened Caps Café in Canada earlier this year. The venue quickly became a hotspot for fans and locals alike.
In last month’s incident, a man named Harjeet Singh claimed responsibility, demanding an apology from Sharma for an alleged objectionable statement.
Following this latest attack, police have tightened security around the café and continue to investigate the case.
