Blood Moon to Grace Skies Tonight

Eclipse will begin on night of September 7, 2025, at 8:28 PM (local time), reaching its peak at 11:12 PM.

ISLAMABAD: A rare celestial spectacle will unfold tonight as a total lunar eclipse, also known as a “Blood Moon,” becomes visible across Asia, Africa, Europe, and many other regions, including Pakistan.

The eclipse will begin on the night of September 7, 2025, at 8:28 PM (local time), reaching its peak at 11:12 PM, and will conclude in the early hours of September 8 at 1:55 AM. The total duration of the eclipse will be approximately five hours and 27 minutes.

This will be the first Blood Moon of the year, offering stargazers a chance to witness the moon turning a striking reddish hue as Earth’s shadow completely covers it. The event will also be visible in the United States, India, Bangladesh, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and other countries.

In Pakistan, however, weather conditions may affect visibility. The Meteorological Department has warned that cloudy skies, particularly over Karachi and other southern regions, could make viewing difficult.

Astronomers emphasize that lunar eclipses have no impact on human life, describing them instead as a remarkable natural phenomenon. They encourage the public to enjoy the event as an opportunity to appreciate the beauty and science of the universe.
