NEW DELHI: A popular Bollywood film “Dharandhar” has landed in fresh legal trouble despite its strong box office performance, after allegations of unauthorized use of a song in its sequel.

According to details, a production company has filed a lawsuit against filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s banner, B62 Studios, claiming that a modified version of the classic song “Tirchi Topi Wale” was used without proper permission in “Dharandhar 2.”

The original track was featured in the 1989 film “Dardiwala” and was composed by Kalyan Anand, with lyrics written by Anand Bakshi. The complainant argues that even though the sequel includes a reworked version titled “Rang De Laal” with new vocals and altered lyrics, it still constitutes copyright infringement.

The production house has requested the court to halt further use of the song across cinemas, streaming platforms, and promotional material, and has also demanded damages.
