SYDNEY: New details have confirmed that the attackers involved in the Bondi Beach incident in Australia were of Indian origin, countering earlier claims that attempted to link the attack to Pakistan.

According to a report published by Indian news outlet The Print, the attacker, Sajid Akram, originally belonged to Hyderabad in India’s Telangana state. The report stated that Sajid Akram migrated from India to Australia in 1998 and that investigators found no evidence of any connection to Pakistan.

The report further revealed that Sajid Akram’s son, Naveed Akram, who was also involved in the incident, was born in Australia and held Australian citizenship.

Despite these verified details, sections of the Indian and Israeli media reportedly began attributing the attack to Pakistan immediately after the attacker’s name became public.

The Print noted that Australian authorities sought background information from Indian officials during the investigation, which confirmed the attacker’s Indian origin and did not indicate any Pakistani link.

The report also highlighted the circulation of fake social media accounts that attempted to falsely associate the incident with Pakistan.

Analysts say the confirmation of the attacker’s Indian origin exposes the spread of misinformation and premature blame following the attack. With verified facts now on record, allegations linking Pakistan to the Bondi Beach incident have been dismissed as unfounded.
