LONDON: The first Muslim cabinet minister in the UK Baroness Sayeeda Warsi has left the Conservative Party as a protest, according to British media reports.
Warsi said that she was leaving the party which she dubbed as the den of hypocrisy and left politics. Warsi had also worked as the co-chairperson of the Conservative Party during the David Cameron government.
The Conservative Party in a reaction to the announcement of Warsi to quit the party said that she was to be probed for her divisive language. The party also said that complaints in this regard would be investigated without any prejudice.
According to the British media reports one of the compounds against worship was related to a statement in which she had congratulated Maria Hussain upon her acquittal by court in a case.
Hussain, a British Pakistani teacher, was acquitted last week in after the Coconut Placard Trial.
