ISLAMABAD: British High Commission has responded to Pakistan’s formal protest regarding derogatory remarks and violent threats made on British soil.

The protest was lodged after a demonstration by PTI supporters outside the Pakistani consulate in Bradford, which Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described as a “serious affront” to the country’s national institutions.

According to a statement from the British High Commission, the police and prosecutors in Britain work independently from any external influence. A spokesperson from the High Commission emphasized that should Pakistan believe that any crime has taken place on British soil, it must provide concrete evidence.

The spokesperson clarified that upon receiving the necessary material, the British police would review the evidence to determine whether it warrants a criminal investigation. If the material is found to violate British law, the police may initiate formal legal proceedings.

The British High Commission’s response came after Pakistan issued a verbal demarche to the British Deputy Head of Mission, conveying dissatisfaction with the lack of action taken against the protesters. Despite the offensive language and violent threats used during the demonstration, Pakistan noted that no steps had been taken by British authorities to address the matter or hold those involved accountable.
