British Team Arrives in Pakistan to Audit Airport Safety

ISLAMABAD: A team from the UK’s Department for Transport has arrived in Pakistan to conduct safety audits at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport and Islamabad International Airport.

The audit is scheduled to begin on Monday, with Lahore airport being inspected first. The British experts will review security arrangements for direct flights to the United Kingdom, including CCTV operations, airport security procedures, cargo handling, and flight catering.

The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority will support the audit, while Pakistan International Airlines, the Pakistan Airports Authority, the Airport Security Force, and Customs have completed their preparations.

The audit aims to assess whether security measures for direct flights from Pakistan to the UK meet the required standards. According to sources, PIA currently operates direct flights from Pakistan to London and Manchester.
