Brooklyn Mela Celebrates Pakistan’s Independence Day

NEW YORK: The Brooklyn Mela 2025 – Pakistan Independence Day Celebration, organized by the Allama Iqbal Community Center (AICC NY), drew a large gathering of Pakistani-Americans from across the tri-state area to commemorate Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day.

Representing Consul General Mr. Aamer Ahmed Atozai, Deputy Consul General Mr. Umar Sheikh addressed attendees, dedicating the occasion to the bravery and sacrifices of Pakistan’s Armed Forces.

Highlighting the recent success in Operation “Bunyan al-Marsous,” Mr. Sheikh described it as a clear demonstration of Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to defending its sovereignty while reaffirming the country’s dedication to peace.

“Pakistan remains committed to peace, but will always respond firmly to any aggression,” he stated. Mr. Sheikh also praised the Pakistani-American community for their ongoing support through philanthropy, investment, and advocacy, encouraging continued unity to contribute towards Pakistan’s progress.

The Mela was a vibrant celebration featuring live musical performances, children’s presentations, and a cultural bazaar showcasing traditional Pakistani food, jewelry, and clothing. The event provided a lively, family-friendly atmosphere where attendees embraced and shared their cultural heritage.

Deputy Consul General Sheikh extended his gratitude to AICC NY and its leadership for organizing the spirited event, emphasizing the importance of such gatherings in fostering community bonds and cultural pride.
