GAZA: At least 52 Palestinians were killed on Monday in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza, including a deadly attack on a refugee shelter in northern Gaza, according to local rescue officials.
The airstrike targeted a school where dozens of civilians had taken refuge. Gaza’s Civil Defense Agency reported that the majority of those killed at the school were children. The Israeli military claimed the location was allegedly being used by militants.
Alongside the school bombing, Israeli forces carried out multiple other strikes across different areas of Gaza, escalating the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Meanwhile, in Qatar, negotiations between Hamas and U.S. Special Envoy Steve Wotkoff have reportedly resulted in a draft ceasefire agreement.
According to Arab media, the proposed deal includes a 60-day truce in exchange for the release of 10 Israeli hostages. The agreement also outlines a two-phase release of Palestinian prisoners and stipulates that five hostages would be freed on the first day of the ceasefire, with the remaining five released on the final day.
U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to guarantee the ceasefire terms, including a withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
However, international news agencies report that Israel has rejected the new ceasefire proposals. Notably, on March 18, Israel resumed airstrikes in Gaza, violating a previous truce.
Since the beginning of the Israeli offensive on October 7, 2023, over 54,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 100,000 injured, marking one of the deadliest periods in the region’s history.
