ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the prime minister on political affairs Rana Sanaullah on Friday said that the cabinet will decide about filing an appeal in the Supreme Court against its verdict giving reserved seats to the PTI.
In a major political victory for jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, the Supreme Court on Friday announced its verdict in favor of his PTI party.
Speaking at a press conference, the adviser said that court decisions should be comprehensible for common man too. He said the SIC had gone to the SC, but the court gave the seats to the PTI which was not a party in the case. He said the law allows any party to file an appeal against a court verdict.
He said the government would consult its legal team and decide about filing an appeal against the verdict.
Meanwhile, PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry said that such court decisions weaken government and badly affect efforts to stabilize the economy. Talking to media after the verdict, he said there would be no issue for the government even if the seats were given to the PTI.
He was of the view that the Election Commission of Pakistan was an independent organization and no organ of the state should interfere in its working in order to ensure stability of the the system. He said president Asif Ali Zardari was a responsible politician and his party would stand by the government as an ally.
