ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Wednesday approved funding worth Rs66 billion for various sectors, including food, energy, health and education.
The ECC meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Aurangzeb Khan decided to auction 500,000 metric tons of wheat stocks held by PASSCO to reduce storage costs and help stabilize wheat prices in the market.
The ECC also approved the provision of 300,000 metric tons of PASSCO wheat to the Punjab government to ensure the availability of flour and maintain price stability across the province.
In another decision, the committee sanctioned a technical supplementary grant of Rs10.98 billion to enable Pakistan Post Office to clear its outstanding dues owed to utility companies.
To ensure uninterrupted vaccination services for children, the ECC approved a technical supplementary grant of Rs29.663 billion for the Federal Directorate of Immunization.
The committee further decided that the subsidy on imported urea fertilizer will be shared equally (50:50) between the federal and provincial governments. For this purpose, Rs23.42 billion was approved, out of which Rs15 billion will be provided by the federal government.
Additionally, the ECC approved Rs1.9 billion for development projects under the Ministry of Housing, along with a grant of Rs150 million for Cadet College Hasanabdal.
The meeting also approved the transfer of solar panels confiscated by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to the Gilgit-Baltistan government for public use.
