ISLAMABAD: PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar has expressed disappointment over the press briefing by ISPR Director General, saying that national institutions and political leadership labeling one another as “mentally ill” is extremely unfortunate and harmful for the country.
Reacting to the DG ISPR’s statements, Barrister Gohar said that he had always hoped for a reduction in tensions and an improvement in relations between institutions and political stakeholders.
He noted that the tone and messaging of the day’s press conference had caused deep disappointment, as PTI consistently believes in constructive engagement and has never adopted, nor will adopt, an anti-state narrative.
He emphasized that Pakistan belongs to all of us, and the armed forces are also our own, stressing the need for mutual acceptance, political space, and responsible dialogue. “At this moment, what the country needs most is trust-building, not further division,” he added.
The PTI chairman appealed to democratic forces across the spectrum to play their role in reducing the rising tension and ensuring that non-stakeholders do not contribute to friction between PTI and state institutions.
He further demanded that meetings with the PTI founder chairman and Bushra Bibi be allowed without further delays, stating that such steps could significantly help in easing the current situation.
Barrister Gohar warned that Pakistan cannot afford any additional political strain or instability, urging all sides to prioritize national interest over confrontation.
