Cambridge Cancels Leaked Paper, Announces Retake Date
ISLAMABAD: Cambridge International has cancelled an AS Level Mathematics exam paper after confirming it was leaked and has announced a new date for affected students to retake the test.
According to the examination body, the Mathematics paper (9709/12), which had already been conducted, was invalidated following verification of the leak. A replacement exam will now be held on June 9, 2026 for all impacted candidates.
Cambridge has launched an investigation into the incident to determine how the paper was leaked and who was responsible. The organization said it is working with law enforcement agencies and warned that strict legal action will be taken against those involved.
The exam board reiterated its commitment to maintaining fairness and transparency, stating that individuals found guilty of leaking exam material could face permanent bans.
All candidates in regions where the leak was confirmed will be required to retake the exam, while students and schools will not be charged any additional fees. Despite the disruption, Cambridge confirmed that results will still be announced as scheduled on August 11, 2026.
Further details will be shared with schools by May 15, and students have been advised to continue focusing on their remaining exams.
