Caretaker PM’s adviser Ahad Cheema removed from post

Govt also removes inspector general of police and deputy commissioner of Islamabad on direction of Election Commission of Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: On the recommendation of caretaker prime minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, President Arif Alvi on Monday removed Ahad Cheema from the post of the PM’s adviser.

Earlier, the caretaker prime minister had sent a summary for removal of Cheema on the direction of the Election Commission of Pakistan as he had a political affiliation. The removal order was issued to ensure free and fair elections.

After the approval of the president, the cabinet division was told to issue a notification in this regard.

Earlier in the day, the government also removed the deputy commissioner and inspector general of the police Islamabad on the direction of the ECP.
