ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved four major projects worth a total of 10.551 billion rupees.
The CDWP held a meeting chaired by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal in Islamabad on Friday. The agenda of the meeting focussed on initiatives that aim to improve education, healthcare, water resources and community support across Pakistan.
Among the approved projects, the construction of a graduate block at the National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore stands out with a budget of 1.607 billion rupees. This development will enhance the college’s infrastructure and create better learning spaces for students.
The Punjab Family Planning Program, costing 4.282 billion rupees, is another key initiative aimed at improving reproductive health services in the province.
The Project Readiness Financing for Punjab Water Resources Management valued at 1.673 billion rupees is expected to boost the province’s water management capabilities, addressing growing concerns about water scarcity.
Additionally, the Hosting Community Support Program worth 2.988 billion rupees will focus on providing much-needed support to vulnerable communities across the country.
In addition to the four approved projects, the CDWP recommended another set of four major initiatives to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for further consideration. These include the Prime Minister’s Pakistan Fund for Education with a proposed budget of 14 billion rupees which aims to improve the quality of education nationwide.
