CM Afridi Vows Reforms in Education and Peace Across KP
PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi visited the Pak Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology in Haripur to inaugurate the newly established School of Medicine, Dentistry, and Allied Sciences.
The Chief Minister lauded the university’s rapid progress and reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to supporting higher education.
Highlighting the importance of market-oriented curricula, Afridi stressed that outdated courses were contributing to rising youth unemployment.
He announced plans to establish a modern university in the merged tribal districts, introduce state-of-the-art universities in Peshawar, and expand market-based courses across the province. Praising Fachhochschule’s success in achieving self-sustainability in five years, Afridi said strong leadership is critical for institutional growth, while frequent leadership changes hinder progress.
Addressing security and development concerns, the Chief Minister criticized the federal government for displacing residents of Tirah during severe snowfall and called for a permanent, consultative peace policy. He condemned political actors for prioritizing personal gain over public welfare and vowed to defend provincial interests against external or internal pressures.
At the fifth convocation of the University of Haripur, Afridi congratulated graduates and announced a sub-campus in Ghazi to expand access to higher education at the district level. He emphasized that public service, education, health, and peace are top priorities of his government.
Speaking at Abbottabad University of Science and Technology, Afridi underscored the importance of female education, stating that an educated mother ensures an educated society.
He highlighted the provincial government’s achievements in primary and higher education in both KP and the merged districts, contrasting them with past neglect. Afridi reiterated his commitment to improving education, health, and development while safeguarding the rights of the Pashtun people.
