BRAZIL: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the “Pakistan Pavilion” at the COP30 climate conference in Brazil, alongside former Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern.
The two leaders jointly cut the ribbon to formally open the pavilion, marking Pakistan’s strong presence at the global climate summit.
The Pakistan Pavilion, titled “From the Indus to the Amazon,” showcases Punjab’s recent environmental initiatives and sustainable development efforts under the provincial government.
The exhibit features large digital screens, documentary films, and vibrant displays designed in the colors of Pakistan’s national flag.
During the inauguration, Maryam Nawaz briefed Jacinda Ardern on Punjab’s comprehensive environmental strategy and the bold measures her government has implemented to tackle climate challenges.
Ardern praised the Punjab government’s initiatives, commending the Chief Minister’s leadership and commitment to environmental progress.
The pavilion highlights projects such as Clean and Green Punjab and other sustainability programs undertaken over the past 18 months. It has become a major attraction for attendees at COP30, drawing attention for its innovative presentation and forward-looking approach.
Both leaders also discussed potential areas of cooperation between Pakistan and New Zealand on environmental and climate resilience efforts.
