NEW YORK: Consul General of Pakistan in New York Aamer Ahmed Atozai praised the spirit of diversity and unity during an AAPI heritage month reception hosted by the Mayor’s Office, calling it “a powerful reminder of the shared values that strengthen multicultural societies.”
The reception, held in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, brought together a wide array of community leaders, diplomats and senior city officials to celebrate the contributions of AAPI communities to the social, economic, and cultural fabric of New York City and the broader United States.
Mayor Eric Adams addressed attendees, commending the resilience and achievements of AAPI communities. He emphasized their vital role in the city’s growth and cultural vibrancy, and lauded their pursuit of the American dream.
The event also saw a notable turnout from the Pakistani American community. Their presence underscored the community’s increasing civic engagement and its contributions to the city’s inclusive and diverse character. Several community members expressed appreciation for the Mayor’s inclusive approach and his acknowledgment of their efforts.
Consul General Atozai’s attendance at the event reflected Pakistan’s continued commitment to building bridges between cultures and supporting the active participation of Pakistani Americans in the civic life of the United States.
