Collaboration Discussed to Address Invisible Disabilities in Women

Special Correspondent

NEW YORK: The Consul General of Pakistan in New York Amer Ahmed Atozai met Zainab Wadood, a disability rights professional and healthcare strategist, to explore collaboration on addressing invisible disabilities in women both at workplaces and in society.

Ms. Wadood, recently featured in Forbes, highlighted global data gaps that leave less visible conditions under-recognized, including in Pakistan.

She briefed the Consul General on challenges faced by individuals with conditions such as partial hearing loss, neurodevelopmental differences, and other non-apparent functional barriers, stressing how weak data hampers equitable access to education, employment, and healthcare.

Ms. Wadood shared plans to engage Pakistani government bodies, research institutions, and inclusion stakeholders to strengthen data systems, policy design, and institutional capacity.

The Consul General appreciated her work and reaffirmed the Consulate’s support for disability-inclusive development and partnerships with Pakistani institutions.
