LONDON: A court in Britain has rejected an appeal filed by the father, stepmother and an uncle of Sara Sharif seeking reduction in their sentences for murdering the 10-year-old.
According to British media, the appeal filed in the Royal Court of Justice for a reduction of sentences was heard by three judges.
However, the court rejected the appeal of Sara Sharif’s killer parents and the uncle.
It may be recalled that on August 10, 2023, the body of 10-year-old Sara Sharif was found at her home in Woking. The British police said at that time that Sarah’s father, an uncle and stepmother had left for Pakistan a few hours before Sarah’s body was found.
The UK had approached Pakistan for the arrest of the accused. On their return to the UK a month later, the three were detained.
During the court hearing, the victim’s father Irfan Sharif had accepted responsibility for the injuries on Sara. Irfan Sharif had also admitted to hitting Sara with a metal rod, cricket bat and mobile phone.
In December, a British court sentenced the victim’s father, Irfan, and stepmother, Banish Batool, to life in prison for the murder of 10-year-old Sara Sharif.
The court also sentenced the victim’s uncle Faisal Malik to 16 years in prison.
