Court asks police to file report on whereabouts of Sheikh Rashid
RPO claims AML leader and PTI ally is not in custody of Rawalpindi police.
RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday ordered the local police to submit its report about the arrest of All Pakistan Muslim League leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.
Justice Sadaqat Ali of the high court took up for hearing a petition filed by Sheikh Rashid’s nephew seeking his recovery.
Rashid was picked up from his Bahria Town residence more than a week ago and there is no information where he is being kept. He has also not been produced in any court.
Justice Sadaqat asked Regional Police Officer Khuram Ali what report he had about the former federal minister and an ally of jailed PTI chairman Imran Khan.
The RPO said Sheikh Rashid was not in police custody and the area from where he was taken away also does not fall in the jurisdiction of the Rawalpindi police.
The judge ordered the police chief to submit a report about the matter and put off further hearing.
It may be noted that the petition seeking recovery of Sheikh Rashid stated that over two dozens police officials in uniform and civvies headed by three SHOs took away the AML leader from his house on the night of September 17th.
