QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court has issued a directive to the Election Commission, instructing it to ensure the completion of local body elections in Quetta at the earliest possible date.
The court reaffirmed that the authority for the delimitation of constituencies constitutionally rests within the jurisdiction of the Election Commission.
It was further observed by the court that the petitioners had failed to formally submit objections regarding the delimitations, and no evidence was presented to demonstrate any violation of existing legal provisions.
In addition, the Balochistan High Court dismissed all constitutional petitions concerning both the delimitation process and the population census in Quetta.
