Court orders to freeze bank accounts of three in corruption case

Order issued by accountability court judge in 190 million pound Al-Qadir Trust case.

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court has ordered to freeze bank accounts of three persons in the 190 million pound Al-Qadir Trust case registered against them along with Imran Khan.

Judge Muhammad Bashir while hearing the case also issued arrest warrants of the accused.

The order was issued against Shahzad Akbar, Zulfi Bukhari and Farah Gogi today. The court on Monday had ordered to freeze the properties of Malik Riaz and others in the same case.

Three days back, property tycoon Malik Riaz, former prime minister Imran Khan’s accountability czar Shahzad Akbar, his special aide Zulfi Bukhari and three others were declared proclaimed offenders in the 190 million pound Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.

On Dec 6, judge Muhammad Bashir had issued notices to the accused to appear in court however they failed to do so.

The reference in the court was filed by National Accountability Bureau in the 190 million pound Al-Qadir Trust corruption case in November last year.

NAB Rawalpindi has also nominated Imran’s wife Bushra Bibi, her friend Farah Gogi and Barrister Zia Mustafa in the corruption case. The next hearing of the case will be held in Adiala jail on Dec 6.

NAB formally has arrested Imran Khan in Adiala jail last month and the federal government has allowed his trial inside the jail along with the cipher case.

NAB has alleged that PTI government struck a deal with property tycoon Riaz that caused a loss of $239m to the national exchequer. Imran and Bushra Bibi allegedly received billions of rupees and a large swath of land from Bahria Town after legalising Rs50 billion that was returned by the UK during the previous PTI governmen
