MANCHESTER: Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali has been released on bail after being arrested in Manchester over allegations of sexually assaulting a woman.
According to police in England, Haider Ali was granted bail but has been summoned again in two weeks as part of the ongoing investigation. He has also been barred from leaving the UK until further notice.
The incident is reported to have taken place during the recent tour of England by the Pakistan Shaheens cricket team.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended Haider Ali from all cricketing activities.
In its statement, the PCB said the national batsman is under investigation in a criminal case by Manchester Police, which is why he has been suspended. The board added that Haider Ali will be provided legal assistance to ensure his rights are protected.
Haider Ali will remain suspended until the case is concluded, after which the PCB will consider any disciplinary action. The PCB also stated that no further details will be shared until the legal proceedings are complete.
