RAWALPINDI: Pakistani forces successfully repelled an unprovoked cross-border attack on the night of 11–12 October 2025, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The assault, carried out by Afghan Taliban fighters alongside an India-linked group named Fitna al Khawarij (FAK), reportedly involved sporadic firing and small-scale raids along the Pak-Afghan border.
The ISPR said the Pakistani military responded decisively, launching precision strikes and conducting raids against Taliban camps, posts, terrorist training facilities, and support networks allegedly operating from Afghan territory. During the operations, Pakistani forces briefly captured 21 hostile positions on the Afghan side and destroyed multiple Taliban locations and training camps.
In the overnight skirmishes, 23 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 29 others injured. The ISPR estimated that more than 200 Taliban and affiliated militants were neutralised, with the number of injured presumed to be higher. Targeted groups included Fitna al Khawarij (FAK), Fitna al Hindustan (FAH), and ISKP/Daesh. Pakistani authorities emphasised that all efforts were made to avoid civilian casualties.
The statement warned that Pakistan would continue to exercise its right to defend its people if the Taliban Government failed to take immediate and verifiable action against militant groups operating from Afghan soil. The ISPR also highlighted the timing of the incident during a visit by the Taliban Foreign Minister to India, accusing India of sponsoring terrorism in the region.
The military characterized the strikes as defensive measures aimed at disrupting networks planning attacks against Pakistan and urged the Taliban Government to prioritise peace and stability in Afghanistan over “irresponsible sabre-rattling.”
No independent confirmation of casualties or damage on the militant side was provided, and no official response from the Afghan Taliban or India has been reported.
