Dar, Egyptian Foreign Minister Discuss Middle East Tensions

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar held a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel-Aati in Islamabad to discuss regional security in the context of Iran war.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senator Dar welcomed his Egyptian counterpart and emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to its longstanding and brotherly relations with Egypt, built on shared history, religion, and regional and global interests.

The meeting included a comprehensive review of bilateral ties and highlighted the positive outcomes of previous high-level contacts, including Egypt’s Foreign Minister’s visit to Pakistan in November 2025. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation across all sectors.

The discussion focused on boosting trade and investment, strengthening institutional mechanisms, and promoting collaboration between business communities. Senator Dar also acknowledged Egypt’s ongoing support in the health sector, particularly in combating Hepatitis C.

The ministers expressed satisfaction with current defense and security cooperation, agreeing to further strengthen ties through training exchanges and other institutional frameworks.

Regional and global developments, particularly the situation in the Middle East, were also discussed, with both sides stressing the importance of resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.

Senator Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong support for the Palestinian people and condemned Israeli military actions in Gaza and the West Bank, while praising Egypt’s role in humanitarian assistance, including cooperation with Pakistan’s relief efforts.

Both countries agreed to maintain close coordination in multilateral forums such as the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
