KARACHI: Over the tragic incident at NIPA Chowrangi, where a three-year-old child fell into a manhole and lost his life, city authorities have taken swift action.
SSP East Farooq Raza and Deputy Commissioner East Abrar Ahmed Jafar have been removed from their posts, with Abrar Ahmed Jafar instructed to report to the Services Department. The Deputy Commissioner of Malir has been assigned additional charge of the East division.
The incident prompted Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah to express outrage and order the suspension of five officials held responsible for the tragedy.
Among those suspended were senior officers from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation, as well as municipal engineers and local administrative officers.
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab also addressed the tragedy, offering his apologies to the family of the deceased child and acknowledging that he had failed in his responsibilities as mayor.
