Dead bodies of 28 Pakistani pilgrims brought home

Bus was carrying 51 pilgrims from different towns of Sindh and 23 of them were also injured in accident.

JACCOBABAD: The dead bodies of 28 Pakistani pilgrims, who lost their lives in a bus accident in Yazd city of Iran on Aug 21, were brought to Jaccobabad in a C-130 plane on the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The bus was carrying 51 pilgrims and 23 of them were injured, with 14 still in critical condition and admitted to a hospital in Yazd. Before the special plane took off from Yazd carrying the dead bodies, a condolence meeting was held at the airport in which the governor of the area and Pakistani diplomats were present.

After arrival here, the dead bodies were dispatched to the hometowns of the deceased in ambulances. The Sindh government has announced a compensation of Rs5 million each for the deceased and Rs10 million each for the injured.

The bus that met with the accident had gone from Larkana in Sindh. The bus was carrying over 51 people including 14 women. As many as 10 of the pilgrims were from Khairpur and six from Kashmore.
