Diaspora in New York Marks Gilgit-Baltistan Day with Cultural Fest

NEW YORK: The Pakistani-American community gathered in New York to celebrate the Gilgit-Baltistan Cultural Fest and Day of Accession to Pakistan.

The event, hosted by the Soni Watan Organisation of Gilgit-Baltistan, brought together a large number of community members, guests, and dignitaries to honor the region’s vibrant culture and its historic accession to Pakistan.

The Consul General of Pakistan in New York Aamer Ahmed Atozai attended the event as the Chief Guest and commended the efforts of the Gilgit-Baltistan diaspora in promoting Pakistan’s culture and heritage abroad.

In his remarks, the Consul General highlighted the vital role of Gilgit-Baltistan in strengthening Pakistan’s unity and development.

He also emphasized the importance of preserving and showcasing the region’s cultural identity, noting that such events serve as a bridge between communities and help foster national pride among overseas Pakistanis.

The celebration featured traditional music, cultural performances, and exhibitions reflecting the rich traditions of Gilgit-Baltistan, underscoring the community’s deep-rooted connection to their homeland.
