Digital Household Integrated Economic Survey Launched

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has released its first Digital Household Integrated Economic Survey for 2024–25, conducted by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

The survey shows that national literacy has risen from 60% to 63%, while the percentage of children not attending school has decreased from 30% to 28%. Household access to the internet increased significantly from 34% to 70%, and the proportion of individuals using the internet rose from 17% to 57%.

Full vaccination coverage improved from 68% to 73%, and households using clean energy increased from 35% to 38%. Access to mobile phones or smartphones reached 96% of households, and gender parity in early education improved from 92% to 96%.

Infant mortality decreased from 41 to 35 per 1,000 live births, while under-five mortality declined from 60 to 47 per 1,000 live births. The total fertility rate dropped slightly from 3.7 to 3.6 children per woman.

Household income and expenditures have increased, with major expenses on food (37%), housing and fuel (26%), restaurants and hotels (6.63%), clothing and footwear (6.28%), and transport (6.21%).

The survey highlights significant progress in digital access, education, health, and household living standards across Pakistan.
