NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Consulate General in New York Aamer Ahmed Atozai has stressed the need for collective efforts to tackle the growing global water crisis and ensure safe drinking water for disadvantaged communities.
He was speaking at a fundraising dinner organized by the Clean Drinking Water (Saaf Pani) NGO of the West Coast.
A large number of Pakistani Americans from various states on the occasion generously contributed to the noble cause of providing clean drinking water to underserved communities.
Consul General Atozai emphasized that access to clean water is not just a necessity but a fundamental human right.
He commended the NGO’s efforts for the completion of 1,300 water projects across Pakistan.
“Public service is the true essence of humanity,” he stated, applauding the organization’s dedication to bringing clean water to those in need.
The event highlighted the strong commitment of the Pakistani diaspora to humanitarian causes and reinforced the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing water scarcity in Pakistan.
Meeting with Friends of Pakistan leaders
The leadership of Friends of Pakistan met Consul General Aamer Ahmed Atozai, at his office and discussed the launch of the Friends of Pakistan New York Chapter.
Both the sides explored ways to strengthen ties between the Pakistani diaspora and their homeland, as well as enhance collaboration with Pakistani diplomatic missions across the United States.
Discussions centered on fostering a stronger sense of community, promoting cultural and economic initiatives, and deepening engagement between overseas Pakistanis and Pakistan.
The launch of the Friends of Pakistan New York Chapter is expected to play a pivotal role in uniting the Pakistani-American community and furthering initiatives that support Pakistan’s global outreach and development.
