ISLAMABAD: Diplomatic efforts have intensified in Islamabad ahead of expected talks between the United States and Iran, with high-level delegations from both countries scheduled to arrive in Pakistan.
According to diplomatic sources, an Iranian delegation led by Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, is expected to arrive in Islamabad soon.
Sources said that a US delegation is also expected to arrive in two phases. In the first phase, US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of the US president, will be part of the delegation. In the second phase, US Vice President JD Vance is likely to arrive later today.
Prior to the formal talks, Pakistani officials are expected to hold separate meetings with both delegations. This will be followed by a potential joint meeting between the US and Iranian representatives.
Pakistan has been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to facilitate negotiations and promote regional stability, with Islamabad increasingly emerging as a key venue for high-level international dialogue.
