PESHAWAR: A delegation from Koria International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and United Nation Office for Project Services (UNOPS) met caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Arshad Hussain Shah and discussed matters related to public welfare projects being executed in the province with the assistance of UNOPS and KOICA.
At the meeting with Mr Shah, KOICA Country Director Yeon Je Hoe and UNOPS Country Manager Jennifer Ankrom Khan discussed the matters related to timely completion of ongoing development projects.
Prospects of mutual cooperation in the near future especially development projects for merged districts were also discussed.
The chief minister said UNOPA and KOICA were playing an important role in the public wellbeing and development of backward areas, especially in providing clean drinking water to the people.
He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially the merged areas, had been affected badly during the war against terrorism.
“Militancy is not a problem of this province but the entire country as well as international community is also faced with this challenge”, he remarked and added that people of KP were on the front line in the war against terrorism. That’s why, he said that this war has badly affected our economy, peace, development and all other sectors of society.
He made it clear that fast track development of newly-merged districts was the priority area of the provincial government, adding despite numerous challenges and difficult financial situation special efforts were being made for this purpose and the government also needed cooperation from international donor agencies and developmental organizations.
