Drive starts to administer polio drops to children in Balochistan

QUETTA: Over 2.6 million children under the age of five years will be administered drops during the anti-polio campaign that started today in the province of Balochistan.

Coordinator on Emergency Operation Center Balochistan Inamul-Haq said that all arrangements have been made for the drive targeting the children up to five years of age.

He said more than 11,000 teams have been constituted for administering anti-polio vaccine to the children at their doorsteps.

Haq requested parents, media and citizens to play their role in making the anti-polio campaign successful.

It may be mentioned here that polio has been eliminated in the world long ago but Pakistan and Afghanistan are still the only countries unable to get rid of the crippling disease.

Despite efforts and claims by the government, over 60 cases have been reported in different parts of the country in the outgoing year.
