RAWALPINDI: The armed forces said on Saturday that they foiled drone attack attempts launched by the Afghan Taliban targeting three cities, including Rawalpindi, a day earlier.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), several drones were sent toward Pakistan on March 13, but were intercepted and shot down before reaching their intended targets.
It said debris from the destroyed drones injured four civilians. Two children were injured in Quetta, while one civilian each was wounded in Kohat and Rawalpindi.
In a statement, ISPR described the attacks as an attempt by the Taliban regime in Afghanistan to spread fear among the Pakistani population, adding that Pakistan would not bow to such provocations. The military added that terrorism originating from Afghan soil was unacceptable and intolerable.
The statement also reaffirmed that the armed forces will continue to fight terrorism in all its forms to ensure the safety of citizens.
Meanwhile, security sources said that under Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, security forces carried out precision strikes on oil storage sites at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan between the night of March 12 and 13.
The facilities were allegedly being used by militant groups for operational purposes.
They added that operations against militant threats will continue until terrorism is eliminated.
