Drugs, Smuggled Goods Worth Rs1.38 Billion Seized in Quetta

QUETTA: Customs Enforcement in Quetta seized drugs, smuggled goods and vehicles worth approximately Rs1.38 billion.

According to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the seized items included 22.14 kilograms of narcotics, cigarettes, betel nuts, Indian medicines, Chinese salt, auto parts, one vehicle and three Hino trucks.

The Customs team intercepted three containers at the Ziarat Cross, which were on their way to Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The containers were carrying a variety of illicit items, including drugs and smuggled goods. In a separate operation, Customs Enforcement personnel, with the assistance of Ziarat Cross police, uncovered drugs hidden in the lower part of a vehicle, concealed within the spare wheel compartment.

FBR officials have estimated the value of the narcotics in international markets at approximately Rs. 123 million. All seized drugs, goods, and vehicles have been taken into custody, and legal proceedings under the Customs Act of 1969 have commenced.
