DSP Among Seven Martyred in Terrorist Attack on Police Vehicle

KOHAT: At least seven people, including a senior police officer, were martyred in a terrorist attack on a police vehicle in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Tuesday.

According to reports, unidentified militants ambushed a police vehicle traveling toward Shakardarra and opened indiscriminate fire. As a result, DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police) Lachi, Asad Mahmood, along with five police personnel and a passerby, were martyred in the attack.

Following the incident, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the assailants. Three injured police officers and one injured civilian were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Further investigations into the incident are underway.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack on the police vehicle and paid tribute to the martyred DSP Asad Mahmood and other police personnel. He expressed condolences to the bereaved families.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also condemned the terrorist attack. The chief minister stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police serve as the first line of defense against terrorism and vowed that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not go in vain.
