ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has signed a grant agreement worth €18 million with the German government’s development bank KfW to support green and renewable energy projects in the country’s northern regions.
According to a spokesperson for the Economic Affairs Division, the grant will be used to promote clean and sustainable energy initiatives aimed at meeting the growing energy needs of remote northern areas.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Pakistan by Muhammad Hameed Karim, Secretary of the Economic Affairs Division. Representing the German side, Sebastian Jacobi signed the agreement on behalf of KfW Development Bank.
Speaking on the occasion, Karim expressed gratitude to the German government for its continued support. He stated that the grant would help Pakistan adopt environment-friendly energy solutions and contribute to meeting the region’s increasing demand for electricity.
Sebastian Jacobi said the financial assistance would improve access to green and sustainable energy for communities in northern Pakistan. He added that the initiative is expected to create new employment opportunities and support the growth of tourism in the region.
The project is part of ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and Germany in the areas of sustainable development and climate-friendly energy.
