ECP moved to restrain PTI from using ‘Bat’ as election symbol

Application also seeks disqualification of Imran Khan as chairman of the party.

ISLAMABAD: Three applications have been filed in the Election Commission of Pakistan seeking a ban on the PTI from using its electoral symbol of ‘Bat’ and disqualification and removal of Imran Khan as the chairman of the party.

Two of the applications were filed with the commission by Khalid Mahmood Khan. It also said that the PTI was still receiving funds from prohibited foreign firms, urging the commission to take action against the party for this violation of the election laws.

In his second application, another applicant Muhamamd Awan Saqlain said that Imran Khan had been sentenced in the Toshakhana corruption case and hence was not qualified to lead a political party. He requested the ECP to disqualify Imran as the chairman of the party.

The application also said that the PTI should also be restrained from using ‘Bat’ as the election symbol. The ECP has scheduled the three applications for hearing on October 10.
