Egyptian Player Clinch Karachi International Squash Tournament

KARACHI: Egypt’s Mohammad Zakaria won the final of the 2026 Karachi Open International Squash Tournament by defeating his compatriot World No. 14, and 6th seed Ali Abu El Anin, with a 3-2 scoreline to claim the prestigious title.

The tournament offered the largest-ever prize pool of $242,500. In a fiercely contested final, Zakaria showed resilience and skill, edging past his opponent in a nail-biting match.

Zakaria’s path to the final was impressive, having pulled off an upset win against World No. 4, Karim El Shorbagy, in the semifinals. Abu El Anin, on the other hand, stunned fans by defeating former World Champion and 4th seed, England’s Mohamed El Shorbagy, in the semifinals, and World No. 7, Marwan El Shorbagy, in the quarterfinals.

The tournament also saw notable wins in the women’s category, where Egypt’s Amina and Faye triumphed over Malaysia’s Seva Sangri Subramaniam to claim the title.
