Eight Children Among Nine Killed in Rain-Related Incidents

PESHAWAR: At least nine people, including eight children and a woman, have lost their lives while 47 others sustained injuries due to rain-related incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to a preliminary report released by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the injured included 26 men and 21 children.

Several incidents of roof and wall collapses were reported, causing partial damage to at least six houses.

The worst-affected areas included Bannu and North Waziristan, where rescue teams and district administrations are engaged in relief operations.

PDMA officials said that Rescue 1122 and other relevant departments are in close coordination to ensure timely assistance to affected families. Authorities have been directed to provide immediate relief goods and extend financial support to the families of the deceased, particularly in Bannu.

The PDMA has warned that intermittent rains are expected to continue in various parts of the province until Tuesday.

Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable tourist spots, and strictly follow official advisories.

The emergency operation centre remains fully functional, and citizens can contact the helpline 1700 in case of any emergency.
