ISLAMABAD: Eight suspected terrorists were killed in two intelligence-based operations carried out by security forces in Balochistan’s Kharan and Mastung districts, the military’s media wing said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted on June 25 and 26 after intelligence reports indicated the presence of terrorists in the two areas.

In Kharan, security forces killed three terrorists and injured several others during an exchange of fire, the ISPR said.

In a separate operation in Mastung, launched on information about the presence of a suspected suicide bomber, five militants, including the alleged suicide attacker, were killed.

The military said security personnel recovered weapons, ammunition, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and motorcycles from the militants.

The ISPR described the militants as members of what it refers to as “Fitna al-Hindustan” and said clearance operations were continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining suspects.

It added that security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam campaign. The military’s account could not be independently verified.
