KARACHI: Customs intelligence authorities have recovered electronic and other items worth millions of rupees from an unclaimed container at the Karachi Port.
According to local media reports, the container reached the port on September 19 but even after the passage of three weeks nobody turned up for its clearance.
The customs intelligence authorities said similar unclaimed containers had also been found in the past, adding some mafias were involved in bringing these containers carrying different goods.
One official added that as many as 38 containers had been brought to the port from abroad by mafias in the recent past.
After no one turned up to claim the container in the latest case, the customs authorities inspected the container and recovered electronic and other goods worth over 300 million rupees.
The intelligence authorities have launched an investigation to trace the owners of the container, said the official.
